Hello folks! Monster J here - Monster E is having a very busy weekend doing things she is much better qualified to describe. Meanwhile, Platypuss seems to be very involved & most of the animals are in the midst of an epic voyage thru the Council, Idaho sewer system. You just never know what they will get up to.
For instance, when Monster E & I write music, the animals often insert themselves into song titles. Such was the case some years back when I wrote a song called "Rubato Kangaroo" in honor of Bink & Gretel, Bink's mum. We thought you might enjoy giving it a listen today!
Hope you enjoy it!

What a lovely and unlikely combo, kangaroos and magnolia blooms. Music smooth as silk. Yummy.
ReplyDeleteThanks Willow! This has always been one of my favorite pieces to perform with John. The times when he has composed a guitar piece and then invited me to write a melodic accompaniment are very special to me.
ReplyDeleteThe music is charming and soothing; the moment the flute comes in is a lovely surprise (even though I knew there'd be a flute, it was still surprising). I also wondered, of Bink and Gretel who is more guitarish in character, and who is more flutish at heart?
ReplyDeleteDear HKatz,
ReplyDeleteI like your comment about the flute as surprise - I think this is more like Gretel, whose presence is nearly invisible to Bink and often to us - even though we know she's there, quite inextricably linked to Bink in an Animal way, when she shimmers into presence it's always new and unexpected. A monk from the Trappist Abbey in Lafayette once spoke to me about the theological necessity of surprise. I love this idea, and it think it's what started me exploring the idea of sacred play. Thanks for your visit!
ha. wonderful vid...so soothing...smiles.
ReplyDeleteI like the melody of this song
ReplyDeletesomething to ponder...
By the way, I hope you dont mind If I follow your blog. This is one way to keep in touch. hope you do...

Dear ilovepink,
ReplyDeletemelodies do linger in the mind in a pondering way, I find too. Thanks for your comments - you're always welcome.
Enjoyed that! I even played it twice - a rare thing, in this age when we flit from webpage to webpage. It's late here, and it just fitted the mood.
