Dedicated to Fair Monster Kat - honored among Animals
The happy day dawns, we pause not to wonder
what makes the sun sparkle, we don’t have to guess
why even the earth worms are dancing down under
the earth as she shakes out the folds of her dress-
It’s the Hyggehus Animals crossing the tundra
The Gang is arriving today, we say, yes!
Welcome Teddy the Plushy with dapper crochet
And Eli with baby who shepherds the way
Here’s to Manny the Manatee, Pablo the Blue,
Carl, Goody and Will, and hey Gordon, you too!
Welcome Sergeant, the vigilant, Richard the Bold,
Enigmatic Henri (whom we’d love to hold!)
Flo and Pisa, the Boxers, the Highland Cow (sweet!)
And Hobo the traveler- it’s a pleasure to meet!
Footix Official and Ewen the lamb:
Big hugs from Piggles, Big Bed Land grande dame.
With Shingles and Hush they’re all making their way
The Hyggehus Gang meets Big Bed Land today!

Postscript from Polar Knight: We salute you, Monster J., without whose wisdom, loving patience, encouragement, and thorough understanding of Big Bed Land, Platypuss-in-Boots would never have been (and neither would today’s slide show have been completed in time!)
And now for the opening ceremony: we eat!
A few words from Grey Dog: Here I am with Rosie Bear, who has joined me in many of my travels. I do love to travel and run! One day this green basket simply lifted off the exercise bicycle (where many of our trips begin) and could travel by itself, effortlessly. When traveling with Monsters by car, I love to go outside and run next to the car for long stretches. (This is safe for Animal Dogs, but not safe for Monster Dogs.) I must say I feel a kinship with Shaggy Dog Hobo who traveled from Texas.
During the tour you'll visit Panda Air, the hammock which under Chairman Panda's direction can take the Animals anywhere, including under water and into outer space. Chairman Panda is an extremely evolved Animal (possibly from another planet, some speculate) who introduced the Animals to a number of new technologies, including teleporting and shopping. Panda has the somewhat disconcerting ability to appear suddenly outside Big Bed Land. There have been Panda sightings on Television, in Chinese Restaurants, and even on billboards! A much loved and respected Animal. The music for the tour is called "Grey Dog's Holiday" and was composed by M. John Hayes. He performs on the baritone ukulele and Monster E. accompanies on the flute.
Dear Big Bed Land Friends,
ReplyDeleteI know our ambassadors from the Hyggehus are going to have a grand time. Sadly, one of our Monster animals (Daisy) is very unwell and K-Monster has to attend to her today. She regrets the timing of this situation, and wil let you know when things improve.
Many thanks for the stupendous welcome and the most regal poem in our honour. We can almost see a herald with trumpet announcing our arrival!
Much love and hugs,
Poetikat
Charming, perfectly charming.
ReplyDeleteAh, what a beautiful basket! Would that be the basket under which you have been hiding your bloggy talent all this time, Eberle? I am so glad you're here now. Blogland is a richer place for your presence.
ReplyDeleteAs for "Grey Dog's Holiday," I'm going to add it to my Favourites list at YouTube.
What a grand tour! "Grey Dog's Holiday" is a lovely accompaniment. Polar Knight, your poem is divine. Grey Dog, you are quite a traveler. I salute all those gathered for the Big Bed Land/Hyggehus festivities. Save a custard slice and some marshmallows for me, please!
ReplyDeleteDear Commentors All:
ReplyDeletethe Animals felt a bit of impatience with me yesterday since I had to leave P-in-B early in the morning! They want me to assure you that it is not indifference that kept me away yesterday-- far from it!
Kat and Hyggehus Gang: What a day! Besides being the first blog summit of Animals that included Big Bed Land, it was really fun. The Animals here are so happy to have new friends. Could there be more tours in the future we wonder? We are all a bit worried about Monster Daisy though-- and hope the trouble was not related to the previous pot-rack incident which made our hair stand on end? Take care of yourselves, dear Animals and Monsters and we'd like to hear news of Daisy. Pinky says we send her a kiss, if she would like one.
Alan we look forward to your visits! Thanks so much for engaging in the sometimes surprising world of Animals.
Sandra: now that was such a lovely thing to say. I thank M. John Hayes for making blogland (which had been a complete mystery to me) seem like a cool place to be-- the most inviting thing about it was the community of friends that he became a part of. So, thanks to you Sandra!
Aunt Phoenix: So glad you could join the tour! Your custard slices and marshmellows were sent Instantaneous Express by Panda Air. Grizelda says she has sent an extra marshmellow to Gertrude by way of saying hi! Since the marshmellow is perfectly dry, Gertrude can save it for later (we know Gertrude feels cozy when she has an extra marshmellow tucked away just in case. And she always shares with Animals who have shown less foresight!)
